Free Crochet Pattern - Johnny Heart Doll

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner
Materials:

* Size C crochet hook
* Scraps of worsted weight yarn in red, white, black, blue (or whatever eye color you want...)
* 12mm safety eyes (optional... I've written instructions for with or without)
* Needle and matching thread
* Fiber fill stuffing

Special stitches: decreased single crochet (d.sc) – insert hook through st, yo, pull through, insert hook through next st, yo, pull through, yo, pull hook through 2 loops on hook.

Heart Tops (Cups): make 2
- ch 6, tn
- sc 2nd st from the hook, sc next 4 sts, ch 1, tn - 5 sc
- sc 5 on backside of ch, ch 1 - 5sc
- (2 sc 1st st, sc next st), repeat 5 more times (including ch 1 sts as 1 st) - 18 sc
- (2 sc 1st st, sc next st), repeat 8 more times - 27 sc
- sc each st around - 27 sc
- repeat last row 4 more times, fasten off - 27 sc

Heart Body:
- holding 2 cups tog and upside-down join (through both loops in both cups joining them tog) in with a sc (counts as 1st sc), sc next 4 sts (cups are now joined), turn cups right side up, starting to your left sc next 21 sts, d.sc next st and 1st joining st tog, sc next 21 sts (on other cup), d.sc next st and last joining st tog - 49 sc
- sc next 49 sts around - 49 sc
- repeat last row - 49 sc
- (d.sc 1st 2 sts tog, sc next st), repeat 13 more times, d.sc last 2 sts tog - 29 sc
- sc each st around - 29 sc- repeat last row3 more times - 29 sc
- (d.sc 1st 2 sts tog, sc next st), repeat 9 more times, sc last 2 sts tog - 19 sc
- sc each st around - 19 sc
- repeat last row 2 more times - 19 sc
- (d.sc 1st 2 sts tog, sc next st), repeat 5 more times, sc last st - 13 sc
- sc each st around- 13 sc
- (d.sc 1st 2 sts tog, sc next st), repeat 3 more times, sc last st - 9 sc
- sc each st around - 9 sc
- stuff heart with fiberfill
- (d.sc 1st 2 sts tog), repeat until heart is closed off, fasten off

Eyes: (No safety eyes)
- with black - ch 4, sl st 1st st to form a loop
- 8 sc into loop, fasten off - 8 sc
- with blue - join in with a sc, sc again in that st, sc next st, ( 2 sc next st, sc next st), repeat 2 more times, sl st 1st st, fasten off - 12 sc
- with white - join in [BL] with a sc on 1st st of last round, sc each additional st around, fasten off - 12 sc

Eyes: (With safety eyes)
- with blue - ch 6, sl st 1st st to form a loop
- 12 sc into loop, sl st 1st st, fasten off - 12 sc
-with white - join in [BL] with a sc on 1st st of last round, sc each additional st around, fasten off - 12 sc
-insert safety eyes

Mouth:
- ch 2, tn
- 3 sc into 2nd st from hook, ch 1, tn - 3 sc
- 2 sc 1st st, sc next st, 2 sc last st, ch 1, tn - 5 sc
- 2 sc 1st st, sc next 3 sts, 2 sc last st, ch 1, tn - 7 sc
- sc each st across, fasten off - 7 sc

Sew eyes and mouth to Johnny Heart doll.Abbreviations:

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

sl sts – slip stitch

st(s) – stitch(es)

d.sc – decreased single crochet

skp – skip

tog – together

[BL] – back loop

[FL] – front loop
