A Very Special Stitch Marker, Monsters, and Doll and Zombie Heads

I wanted to share a really special ring that I've had for years.  I actually have 2 of them.  They were my Grandmother, Iride's (pronounced ear-a-day), and my mother made them when she was in high school.  I think.  This is what I've believed to be true all of these years, so that's what I'm running with.  (Ma, this would be a good time to speak up... if needed.)  Anyway, Grandma passed away when I was about 9.  I have these 2 rings and a little "I" pendant that she used to wear.  All I really remember is that Grandma crocheted and liked chocolate.  She had afghans everywhere.  I thought it would be nice to put these rings to use in something creative, seeing that I have ogre knuckles and can't even squeeze them on my pinky finger.  They make great stitch markers for knitting, which I'm sure she was able to do also.  And if not, I like to imagine that she'd be cool with that because it has to do with yarn, and yarn is great. (Yes. That was a run-on sentence, and I did it on purpose.)

I've been pretty busy this week.  I'm working on making Knot By Gran'ma like "real work"... at least as much as possible with that whole family thing and all.  You all may have noticed that the blog, Facebook postings (sorry friends and family), and Twitter (Okay, not this.  I'd do it anyway.  Addicted much? Ahem...) and actual stuff to buy has been stepped up a notch.  Well, get used to it... Hahahaha!  This is me trying, and I'm hoping to make it last.

Here's what I have accomplished, aside from yesterday's Mohawk Hat Awesomeness.  Lenny the monster, and these heads that needs their bits sewn on.  They'll be ornaments and keychains by the end of the day.  Lenny has a pink and gray friend, but his picture came out kind of crummy.  You'll just have to wait to see him later.

Also it's FIBER ARTS FRIDAY!!!  So go visit Wisdom Begins in Wonder's blog and check out all of the other great fiber arts posts (towards the bottom).
