Jackalackackie Hat Pattern For You... Surprise!

Baby, it's cold outside. I made this one for myself. I didn't have one single hat that I could wear out of the house and not sprint for the car due to the ugliness.

  1. Now that I'm learning to crochet, I am excited when I see cute hats like this. Ok, must move past single crochet and start getting busy on the various techniques.

    1. All you need is slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet for this one. Awesome that you're learning crochet!

  2. That is awesome! I don't live in a place cold enough to wear hats, but if I did, I'd make this hat. I wanna learn the stitch, though, and maybe put it into other things, like house-shoe-boot cuffs.

    1. It's such a pretty stitch. If you're doing it on square-ish items, make your stitch count odd & add a sc to the beginning.

  4. Question: The pattern is confusing. - [BL] 25 sc, skip next st, [(sc, ch 2, dc) next st, skip next st], repeat 8 times, hdc last st, ch 1, tn - 25 [BL] sc, 9 scallops, 1 hdc Is this one row or two? It doesn't add up and I have taken it apart several times. If you turn where the pattern says you have scallops on one end then SC at the other and then SC on top of the scallops which doesn't add up? Are the (BL) SC into which stitches of the scallops? Thx

  5. This is one row. The sts line up where you are [BL] sc in the [BL] sc and the scallop sts go on top of the scallops (in the ch 1 space). It's not a symmetrical design. Anything after the "-" is the st count for the row, not part of the directions. Hope that helps!
