Color. Yeah that's my favorite part about crocheting (or drawing, or painting, or gardening, or... you get it.). I'm all about color.
The color of my pieces tends to add a childlike playfulness to my work. At most craft shows, the kids are dragging their parents over to my booth (thinking TOYS)! Bright colors make me happy, and that seems to be the kid in me screaming out for attention. I noticed that I have been drawn to hot and cold colors mixed together. Something about the contrast and bold lines it creates.

Then I got to thinking about my clothes and the things I make for myself. My stash for personal projects shows a rainbow of colors also... just more muted. There are olives and deep blues and pumpkin oranges, and lots of different earth tones (apparently I need to be close to earthly things)... I think that is a comfort thing. They are still happy, but also like home... nice and cozy.

It's the start of the 3rd Annual Knitting and Crochet Blog Week. This is my first year participating, as I stumbled across it this morning. I'll be posting straight for 7 days (I hope!). Click here to find more posts on today's topic of Colour Lovers (It's really hard to type color with a "u" in it... BUT cultural differences are what make us closer I suppose...).
Beautiful work and lovely description of the colors you use!

ReplyDeleteColor makes monsters so fun and playful! Great job on them.
ReplyDeleteThose are some of the best monsters I've seen since Rebecca Danger's knitted monsters. There's a real fine art feel to your monsters, like they represent the demons of our dreams.
ReplyDeleteThank you. That really means a lot to me.
