The ADO Team Alice in Wonderland Blog Event

So here's my doll for The 2nd Annual Art Dolls Only Team Alice in Wonderland Blog Event.  To see more amazing dolls from everybody who participated in this challenge, visit The Ado Team Blog.  You will not be disappointed.

This is such an exciting day for me.  Many of you have been following along the progress of this doll for quite a while now, but I've been secretive with the final phases of my doll... Alice.  Being secretive is not one of my strong points, and I've really wanted to share her with you all early.  It would have only been one day early, because I only just finished her yesterday.

Alice is crochet out of acrylic and cotton yarns and threads.  I used fabric more in this doll than I usually do, but I really think it opened up a whole new area of details for my dolls.  Her body is really a cardboard yarn cone... I painted her legs on as well as the base she and the Cheshire Cat share.  He was done out of yarn and Fun Fur... which in my opinion, is no fun but does look like fur kind of in the end.  Both of their heads are stuffed with plastic grocery bags.  As for Alice's arms, she's very reminiscent of my drawing days.  (I have sketch pads filled with beautiful women with wire, beaded, curly arms.)  I used an old butterfly charm, a stone heart, and stone donuts to decorate her wire appendages.  I love the effect they give.

Alice measures 13 inches (33 cm) tall, and the base she stands on with the cat measures 8 inches (20.3 cm) in diameter. Alice is up on Etsy and available for sale!

You can see all of her progress photos on Ravelry and Flickr.
