Work in Progress Wednesday: Blinky

We had a rough day here yesterday, and since Kim was finished, I figured I should start my next monster as a nice distraction. This worked for a while, before my attention was needed elsewhere. I didn't get back to it, because by the time I sat down again, my brains were doing 90 miles an hour. I decided that television (as bad as it is) sometimes is the only distraction that slows the brains down.

Today is already leaps and bounds better. I can think at a normal speed again, and I'm looking forward to spending some alone time with the old crochet hook. I tend to only use one hook for most projects... so it's kind of special to me. Me and my D hook... Is that weird? Any other hookers out there do that?

Here's the sketch this new monster is based on. His backstory is coming along nicely. It's nice to get back to sketching.

Yesterday's troubles with Kiddo made this sketch happen. It was therapeutic to get that out, but also kind of heart wrenching at the same time. It's hard to see your kids going through something that causes them so much pain.

I've been trying to keep the idea that in order to really live your life, you have to feel every part of it... even the this-totally-sucks parts. Those are the parts (apparently) that make the amazing parts feel really amazing. That's what I'm going with anyway.

  1. Am sorry to hear that he's still having problems. And it's even hard to watch the older ones in our lives have pain - my husband is having some difficulties and I've been thinking, too, about how I need to pay attention to this as part of our lives, etc. Thank goodness for the outlet of art!
And music! And books on cd! And movies! And even tv, if we had it!

    1. It's funny how these sorts of things seem to be busting out the creativity more than... probably ever. I keep thinking that if I just shift my perspective a little, it's not so bad. :)

Hope your Hubs gets over whatever's ailing him too.

  2. If you ever want to get together to just chat, drink coffee, crochet (or show me what I'm doing wrong) just to get away from things, my door is always open. Xoxo!

    1. *Snort* I don't think I'd get together to show you how you're crocheting wrong. I doubt you are!

I may just take you up on the other stuff one of these days though. Once things settle a little more. ♥
